How to make a tissue paper flower.

This is a simple activity that can help with the child's fine motor skills, as they have to thread the petals onto the stalk.

To make a tissue paper flower you will need:

  • About 10 pieces of tissue paper, cut into 6cm squares. I used two colours but feel free to use as many different colours as you like.
  • two green pipe cleaners.

Take the middle of one pipe cleaner (a) and twist it around the other pipe cleaner (b) (about 3/4 of the way up.) it should look like a t.

bend the two sides of the pipe cleaner (a) so they look like petals and twist the ends back around the other pipe cleaner (b)

Next thread the tissue papers onto the pipe cleaner. We used alternative colours.

When you have threaded all the tissue paper onto the pipe cleaner, fold the end of the pipe cleaner over to hold all the tissue paper in place.

Then all you have to do is scrunch up the tissue paper one piece at a time. We also added a bit of sparkly glitter to our flower.

This is what our finished creation looked like :)
